Our Story
SimpleCVBuilder started in 2025 when our founder was helping friends through career changes. After trying dozens of CV builders, the pattern was clear: good templates locked behind paywalls, watermarks on free downloads, and pricing that was hard to follow.
We asked ourselves: "Why can't there be a CV builder that's actually simple, open about its prices, and respects the people using it?"
So we built one. It pairs AI suggestions with a plain promise: a professional CV with no watermark and no surprise charges.
What SimpleCVBuilder is, and what it is not
It is a CV builder. You write and edit your CV directly on the page, in one of twelve templates (three on the free plan), and download it as a PDF with no watermark. A free ATS checker shows how application software reads your CV, and you can tailor a CV to a job advert, keep a list of the jobs you have applied for, and prepare for interviews.
It is not a recruitment agency or a job board. We do not apply for jobs on your behalf, we do not pass your CV to employers, and nobody can promise you an interview. The tools help you write a clearer CV; what happens next depends on you and the employer.
How SimpleCVBuilder is paid for
There are two sources of money. The first is what people pay: Pro, a monthly or yearly subscription, and two one-off purchases, the 30-day Job Search Pass and a single download. Each has one price in pounds, euros or dollars, and where you are decides which currency you see. There is no regional or discounted pricing within a currency, so everyone paying in the same currency pays the same amount.
The second is advertising. People using the free plan, and visitors reading our longer guides, may see ads served by Google AdSense. Pro, trial and Pass users see none. Advertisers do not pay for a place in our guides, and nothing in a guide is written to suit an advertiser. The cookie policy lists the ad cookies and how to turn off personalised ads.
The free plan costs nothing: one CV, a PDF download without a watermark, and the ATS checker with no sign-up. The pricing page lists every plan and limit.

How our guides are written
Some first drafts of our guides and example CVs are written with AI tools. A person then checks and edits every page before it goes live. Facts such as salaries come from named sources like the National Careers Service and NHS Employers, listed at the foot of each page. The people in our example CVs are fictional.
